If you’re here reading this, chances are there’s something you love or want to know about Melrose. Maybe you’re researching some of the people who were the first residents of “Melrose” proper, or about a cool house you own or are intrigued by.
The great thing is, the Alachua County Clerk of Courts has digitized the historical records and they are availible 24/7 for all your research needs. Some have even been transcribed and are searchable within the document. This site includes historic deed records, marriage records, land plats, and more. But, a word of caution…you may find yourself fully immersed down a rabbit hole and become an expert on something you had no intention of becoming an expert on.
Karen Kirkman of the Historic Haile Homestead and the Alachua County Historical Commission will be joining us as our guest speaker on January 25, 2026 at the Homemakers Club. She will teach us more about this resource and how you can sign up to volunteer transcribing documents of interest to you from your own home!

We are looking forward to hearing her wealth of knowledge and information and can’t wait for all our members to be prepared to dive in! In the meantime, you can start exploring this resource right away. Link opens in a new tab. https://alachuaclerk.org/archive/
Join us at 2pm for her talk and light refreshments. See you at Homemakers!
