September Celebration in Melrose

Did you know that September is the month of National Barber Day? Here in Melrose, we love celebrating the unique stories that make our small town special, and that includes our history of local barbershops. From the iconic red, white, and blue barber pole to the friendly neighborhood conversations in the chair, barbershops have long been a cornerstone of community life. If you need local news, it’s a great place to go for a listen!

This Friday, as part of our Art Walk at the Daurer History Center, we’re bringing that history to life with a special display in honor of our small-town barbers.

A Little Extra Fun: Raffle Night 🎟️

But wait! It gets even better! Friday night only, you can grab raffle tickets for just 25¢ each (that’s “two bits” in classic barber lingo!). Prizes are sponsored by Denise’s Barber Shop and Backwoods Barbershop, and the lucky winners will receive a haircut by one of two of Florida’s best barbers.

Not only will your ticket(s) hopefully get you looking sharp real soon, but you’ll also be helping to support the mission of Historic Melrose, Inc. Every ticket purchased goes directly back into preserving the history and heritage of our beautiful town.
