A Beautiful Morning in Heritage Park

Commissioner J.R. Newbold (District 1) recently met with Historic Melrose’s VP, James Peffley at Melrose Heritage Park.  Commissioner Newbold chairs the Parks & Recreation Committee where joint planning has begun for the Melrose 150^th birthday celebration, May 1, 2027.

HMI purchased the lots destined to be a strip mall in 2002 and donated the park to Putnam County. It has been a tremendous collaborative effort at the prettiest park in America.  The Daurer History Center inside Heritage Park is open on first Fridays, 6 to 8 pm, during the Melrose Art walk and by appointment.
